Maochuan Zhang – PhD candidate, Dalhousie University
Queen Charlotte Fault
Maochuan uses active- and passive-source seismic data to characterize crustal and uppermost mantle velocity structure, fault zone architecture, and rheology of the Queen Charlotte Fault offshore British Columbia and Alaska.
Maochuan completed his BSc at Chengdu University of Technology in 2017 and his MSc at the University of Chinese Academy of Science in 2020 before joining Mladen Nedimovic’s working group as a CREATE trainee at Dalhousie University in 2020. He has first hand experience studying the geological, geomorphological, and geophysical features of the East Pacific Rise, and specifically in geophysical processing methods, published in several peer-reviewed articles. The Chinese Academy of Science awarded Maochuan several awards for “outstanding student leadership” and for being an “outstanding student” and “outstanding graduate”.
