Rebecca Mensing – PhD candidate, uOttawa
North Fiji Basin geodynamics
Rebecca’s project focuses on the investigation of the geodynamic and crustal accretion processes in the North Fiji Basin in the southwest Pacific. In order to illustrate these processes, she creates a geological map of the area on assemblage and formation levels based on marine geophysical data integrated with geological samples.
Rebecca completed her BSc and MSc at the Martin-Luther-University in Germany in 2016 and 2019, respectively, before joining Mark Hannington’s working group at uOttawa in 2020. During her BSc and MSc projects, she also worked as a research assistant at GEOMAR – Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, where she is currently employed as a research scientist on a part-time basis.
