ODH Meeting: Bridging the gap between ancient and active seafloor hydrothermal systems: The Troodos perspective on VMS deposit formation
The Ore Deposits Hub (ODH) have a meeting tomorrow where iMAGER Andrew Martin from the Memorial University of Newfoundland will present their work on Wednesday, June 30th at 1 pm EDT (5pm GMT).
Summary:
Reconciling observations between ancient volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) and actively forming seafloor massive sulfide (SMS) deposits is key in understanding the sources and processes that govern metal enrichment in marine hydrothermal systems. We will discuss the role of magmatic volatile degassing as a source of metals and sulfur in mafic VMS deposits and the use of Troodos VMS deposits as an analogue for basalt-hosted SMS deposits.
