Throughout the Program, iMAGE-CREATE students are fully participating in value-added training applicable at their level and stage. We are continually evaluating progress in the following areas:
Highly Qualified Personnel
HQP1 − HQP targets as outlined in the iMAGE-CREATE
HQP2 − EDI recruitment efforts (e.g., scholarships reserved specifically for women)
Mobility
M1 − Research training at sea or 3-4 week internships
M2 − Field courses, 2 x 2 weeks in selected study areas (e.g., Abitibi, Trans-Hudson, Newfoundland, Cyprus, Aegean, or Iceland)
M3 − GEOMAR-CREATE Seafloor Mapping Summer School and Capstone Mapping Projects: 4 week exchange for Canadian students at GEOMAR or land-based mapping projects with partner institutions
M4 − Work experience, 2-3 week internships in industry, non-academic, or government setting (optional)
Professional Skills
PS1 − Career training, 1 x 1-2 day events per year, including project management, data management, QA/QC, reporting standards, ethics
PS2 − On-site learning at industrial locations, including acquisition of specific skills and professional seminars
PS3 − Participation in seminars/workshops of professional societies and the annual PDAC Student Minerals Colloquium
Technical Skills
TS1 − Modular courses, 2 x 1 week graduate courses offered at multiple institutions, including courses in the Ontario Graduate Teaching Network in Minerals Geoscience (with MERC)
TS2 − Participation in seminar program of invited guests, organized and held by trainees
