Raegen Magee – Honours Candidate, University of Ottawa
Mapping Volcanoes in the North Fiji Basin
Raegen’s research focuses on mapping the structure and different types of volcanism in the North Fiji Basin, which is at the interface between the Australian and Pacific tectonic plates. Using ship-based bathymetry, backscatter data, gravity and magnetics, a detailed geological map will be created using ArcGIS Pro.
Raegen is in the process of completing her BSc Hon. in Environmental Science at the University of Ottawa. She spent the summer of 2023 doing geological prospecting for Bayside Geoscience on gold/lithium projects across Ontario, and completed the 2022 field season in Nunavut working under Agnico Eagle Mines for their fisheries department.
