Aurora hydrothermal vent field, Gakkel Ridge
Charles is studying the formation of massive sulfide deposits at the Aurora hydrothermal vent field, Gakkel Ridge. To this end, he is applying a variety of mineralogical, geochemical, and geochronological tools to rock samples collected from the Arctic seafloor underneath perennial sea ice.
A francophone from Montreal, Charles previously completed a BSc. in Earth & Planetary Sciences at McGill University. He joined the Jamieson Marine Geology Laboratory at Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2022.
