Taylor Tracey Kyryliuk – MSc candidate, University of Ottawa
Hikurangi margin structure
Taylor is investigating Haida Gwaii, and the potential connection between the adjacent triple junction and a 2012 earthquake that may be related to ongoing subduction or underthrusting. Geophysical results will be obtained by a newly deployed array of submarine and terrestrial seismic stations in the area, allowing Taylor to establish new models of the tectonic structure in the region.
Taylor obtained a BSc Hon. at the University of Windsor in 2019 before joining the working group of Pascal Audet at uOttawa as a CREATE trainee in 2020. The University of Windsor awarded her the LEAD Medallion Scholar Gold Medal and the Dr. Lucjan Krause Undergraduate Scholarship in Physics. Taylor also brings industry experience to the CREATE team after working for Camufacturing Solutions as a research assistant for two years.
