Ysabèle Rivard – Honours Candidate, University of Ottawa
Evolution of Triple Junctions, Iceland
Ysabèle’s research centers on the SISZ-EVZ triple junction in Iceland, a region where tectonic rifting has shifted from the west to the east. Employing remote mapping techniques, she explores the intricate interplay between tectonic and magmatic processes, crucial for comprehending triple junction formations and seafloor dynamics. Their bridging fieldwork experiences with advanced geospatial tools underscores their versatility and expertise in the field of geology.
In August 2023, Ysabèle conducted field research in Iceland in collaboration with iMAGE-Create, gaining valuable firsthand experience in a volcanic and tectonic hotspot. Committed to global exploration of tectonism and volcanism, Ysabèle is poised to travel the world to further expand her knowledge. Graduating in winter 2024 with an insatiable curiosity, and an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, Ysabèle stands as an emerging scholar primed to make substantial contributions to the realms of geology.
